About Sarah

Sarah Lee founded Sweet Secrets in 1999 as one of the first artisanal western style bakeries in Hong Kong known for bringing customers’ dream cakes alive. Sweet Secrets is the pioneer bakery in Hong Kong with a diverse line of alternative desserts, free from the ingredients used in decades of conventional baking that can potentially cause health risks. Over the years, big brand names come to Sweet Secrets for their specialty healthy bites for numerous corporate events.

Healthier Happier Living

With a heart to influence change in the community for healthier, happier living, she pioneered in the launch of free-from desserts catering to a niche market with food intolerances in 2012. She inspires her customers to make conscious choices about sugar and health and the baked goods industry to create and provide conscious choices for their customers. She now offer the largest range of healthier gluten-free, paleo, plant-based desserts in Hong Kong.

In Hong Kong, we have the big local chain bakeries that cater to the local palate and we have the more entrepreneurial, independent ventures started by expats, like me, where we tend to cater to more niche markets. Though there aren’t many collaborative efforts in the industry that impact changes, I am very excited to see the shift in the market demand for artisanal, healthier, alternative free-from desserts. The demand for clean, plant-based / vegan desserts have also been on the rise and we pride ourselves in our outreach effort that help to influence the community.

Every Interaction is Educative

Sarah embraces her role of being the educator of sugar and health! Every client interaction is ‘educational’ and opens a world of possibilities to simple lifestyle changes.  By revealing their recipes and all ingredients that they use, they show their clients how reducing refined ingredients could refine their health.

Blyss is a surprising find! It taste light, giving a hint of sweetness without the cloying taste of white sugar. It behaves like sugar and I can create my recipes with it without adaptations. Best of all, I am delighted that it is all natural and could help me cater to a range of special need customers without worry about side-effects. Even better, more yummy options are now available for those who will benefit from avoiding sugars and carbs at all. I see myself creating more keto and low-carb cakes and cookies with it! So much possibilities really.

She has always followed her heart and it is creating desserts with conscience that keeps her going, to serve her community.

I started my business out of my love for all things sweet. Armed with a business degree, I didn’t put numbers first. Instead, my creative juices together with my desire to provide the best and highest quality desserts we can offer took precedence. 

She has launched Sweet Secrets online shop in 2017 and has been developing channel businesses working with strategic partners in the health and wellness industry. She plans to expand into the China market in the neat future.
